Construction

The frame construction of Simonton StormBreaker Plus® windows includes a fusion-welded design that provides structural integrity and an effective barrier against the elements. Made from first-generation vinyl, the material delivers thermal efficiency and durability, designed to handle typical coastal conditions such as humidity, salt spray, and temperature fluctuations.

Performance

Simonton StormBreaker Plus® windows provide solid storm protection with impact-resistant laminated glass designed to meet both structural and local building code requirements. These products offer structural pressure ratings ranging from 50 to 60 PSF, ensuring they can withstand extreme weather conditions. Featuring SafePoint® Max Impact Glass, they meet Missile D impact specifications for Florida and Texas coastal regions. Additionally, select sizes are certified for High-Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ), adhering to the strictest impact standards set by the Florida Building Commission for Miami-Dade and Broward County. For added resilience, the SafePoint® Max+ glass option includes an ultra-durable interlayer, providing even greater strength for HVHZ certification, ensuring comprehensive protection in high-risk areas.

Efficiency

The Simonton StormBreaker Plus® windows come with ProSolar® Low-E glass, which balances energy efficiency and solar control. This Low-E glass is designed to reduce heat transfer, helping maintain interior comfort and improve overall energy performance, particularly in warmer climates. For added solar control, the ProSolar® Shade Low-E option is available as an upgrade, providing superior insulation while blocking a higher percentage of solar heat. This makes it an ideal choice for homeowners seeking to minimize heat gain and optimize energy savings in sun-exposed areas.

Aesthetics

Simonton StormBreaker Plus® windows offer a wide range of customizable options, including various styles, configurations, colors, hardware finishes, and grille patterns, making them versatile for different architectural and interior designs. However, in markets like Florida, where contemporary design is becoming more popular, these windows may not stand out as much compared to competitors that emphasize more modern, innovative styles. While the aesthetic options are strong, they might not fully meet the growing demand for sleek, contemporary looks in certain regions.
